When the National Association of Realtors (NAR) planned their new headquarters on New Jersey Avenue — just blocks from the U.S. Capital — they wanted to create a special experience for their visitors.
We created a series of six cylindrical steel “totems,” which from a distance, beckon visitors to approach. The sculptures complement the facade of the building on a grand scale.
Up close and personal, a more complex message is revealed on the inside of the totems. Window, door, and keyhole-shaped cut-outs invite visitors to peek in and discover inspirational quotes about land and homes by famous Americans that speak to the organization’s mission of pride of home ownership. Our favorite quote is from The Wizard of Oz: “There’s no place like home.”
We managed all aspects of the project — concept, design, technical drawings, bidding, vendor selection, fabrication supervision, and installation.
